Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Ground System Fluid/Mechanical Engineer II to design and develop fluid and structural systems for test facilities across the full lifecycle. This role involves creating P&IDs, models, drawings, and analyses under senior guidance to support test stand capabilities.

You will apply fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and system integration for cryogenic and high‑pressure gas systems, while coordinating with suppliers and supporting hazard assessments and PAR readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3+ years in fluid or mechanical systems or test operations.
• Foundational knowledge of fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and system integration.
• Knowledge of valves, regulators, pumps for cryogenic, propellant, and high‑pressure gas.
• Fabrication methods for piping systems, connections, fasteners, and welding.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and BPVC.
• Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of fluid and mechanical systems for ground test facilities across the system lifecycle.
• Develop and release engineering deliverables including P&IDs, models, drawings, eBOMs, and analyses.
• Apply fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and system integration to high‑pressure gas, cryogenic, and propellant systems.
• Design mechanical test fixtures and structural supports.
• Support hazard assessments including PHA and HAZOPs.
• Participate in design reviews and PAR readiness activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers on technical requirements and track cost/schedule inputs.
• Support testing, passivation, and cleaning of components to IEST cleanliness standards.
• Maintain Windchill configuration management.
