Job summary

Automation Solutions in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support automated systems integrating PLCs, motion, robotics, and vision technologies.

You will work at our Birmingham facility and travel about 25% to customer sites for commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and post-delivery service. Strong PLC/HMI, electrical drawings, and safety compliance experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in electrical/mechatronics or related field.
• 2–4 years of controls programming or equivalent industrial controls roles.
• Strong PLC/HMI development experience including ladder logic.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and troubleshoot electromechanical control systems for automated equipment.
• Develop, modify, and debug PLC and HMI applications (ladder logic and related control software).
• Commission PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo motion, robots, vision systems, and industrial communications.
• Interpret specifications and electrical drawings; contribute updates to electrical documentation.
• Plan and run test protocols and site runoffs to meet contract and customer requirements.
• Drive root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
