Job summary

ASI in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, integrate, and support custom automated systems. You will work hands-on with hardware and software from concept through installation and post-delivery support, collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

The role requires experience with PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, robot, and vision systems; ability to read electrical prints; and a willingness to travel to customer

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of controls programming or similar experience.
• Experience with PLC, HMI, VFD, robot or other controls programming.
• Experience reading electrical print sets.
• Ability to travel to customer facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot automated electromechanical control systems.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, robot, vision programming.
• Support system runoffs and equipment installations; ensure contractual alignment.
• Conduct quality control inspections and maintain safety standards.
• Hands-on integration, modification, and repair of controls equipment for customer specs.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized work environment in fabrication and on site.
