The University of Texas at Austin's Center for Human and Robot Co-Adaptation is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer on the UT Main Campus to build and maintain a shared robotics software stack for HERO deployments across sites.

You will collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate evolving research into robust, deployable systems, develop ROS 2 packages, and ensure reliability, testing, and deployment readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Two+ years of relevant software engineering experience with robotic systems.
  • Strong programming in C++ and Python.
  • Proficiency with Linux-based systems and debugging.
  • Experience with ROS 2 or similar middleware.
  • Ability to design, integrate, test, and debug complex software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, maintain, and deploy the center's robotics software stack.
  • Work with researchers to translate evolving software into deployable systems.
  • Develop and maintain ROS 2 packages, interfaces, and launch systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex software failures across components.
  • Coordinate software releases and deployments across HERO sites.
