Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Transportation Cabinet is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I in Bourbon County, Paris, KY. This full-time role includes classroom and in-field trainings to specialize in road maintenance and operations.

Responsibilities include hauling materials, winter equipment operation, mowing, and flagging traffic. Applicants must be 18+, have a valid driver’s license, and obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months; First Aid, Snow & Ice, OSHA-10 certifications required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 18 years or older to start.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL Class B within 12 months.
• Must complete First Aid, Snow & Ice Training, Traffic Control/Flagger, OSHA 10.

Responsibilities

• Haul materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader in winter.
• Operate tractor-type mowing machine and assist in brush cutting.
• Operate chain saws, weed eaters or woodchippers.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
