Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking workers to assist with a wide range of road and bridge maintenance tasks along the state highway system. Under direct supervision, you will operate dump trucks and other equipment to support construction, repairs, and snow/ice removal.

Position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, endurance to work outdoors in various weather, and willingness to respond to emergencies or after-hours events.

Qualifications

• There are no minimum training or experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance of roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate dump trucks, flatbed trucks and small equipment for highway maintenance and snow/ice removal.
• Perform vegetation management, sign maintenance, drainage work, pothole repair, paving and litter/debris removal.
• Flag traffic, perform pre-trip inspections, and assist in emergency or inclement weather operations.
