Sauk County Highway Department in Wisconsin is hiring a Highway Operator I to perform maintenance on highways and transportation infrastructure, operate heavy equipment, and ensure safety for motorists and crews. CDL requirements and on-call snow operations are included.

Standard hours are 6:00am–4:00pm Mon–Thu with on-call nights, holidays, and weekends during snowstorms; current Wisconsin license and multiple certifications are required or pursued within 6 months.

Formación

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Wisconsin State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.
• Obtain and maintain Wisconsin CDL Class A, B, and C with N endorsements within 6 months.
• Federal Mine Safety certification within 6 months of start date.
• First Aid & CPR certification within 6 months of start date.
• Chainsaw Safety certification within 6 months of start date.
• Forklift Operator certification within 6 months of start date.
• Work Zone Safety certification within 6 months of start date.

Responsabilidades

• Operate road maintenance, construction and repair vehicles and equipment.
• Use public safety judgment for snow/ice control and winter maintenance.
• Fill cracks and potholes with paving materials.
• Transport heavy equipment to job sites with truck and trailer.
• Replace/repair road signs, guardrails, and markers to meet safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and trucks (fuel, oil, lubricants, tires).
• Assist with signing and traffic control to maximize safety of the public and crew.
