Job summary

Marathon County Highway Department is seeking a Highway Section Worker to join teams at Wausau and satellite locations. This full-time position involves physical labor, driving and operating road maintenance equipment, and responding to snow emergencies as required.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience, with a Wisconsin Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (or ability to obtain within six months). Starting pay is $25.81 per hour with County benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Must have at least one (1) year of paid work experience that includes constructing or maintaining roads or bridges, or related construction.
• Ability to operate varied related farm or construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor road construction and maintenance tasks (snow fences, guard rails, brush cutting, mowing, litter collection).
• Operate trucks and road construction equipment for asphalt patching, snow plowing, sanding, and hauling.
• Maintain equipment through routine servicing and light maintenance.
