Job summary

Marathon County Highway Department is seeking applicants for full-time highway worker positions across multiple locations, with a schedule from early morning to early afternoon depending on season. Responsibilities include road construction, maintenance, equipment operation, and winter road services.

A Wisconsin Class A CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months is required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; driving record must meet county standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of paid work experience in road or bridge construction/maintenance OR commercial construction building experience OR operating related farm equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform road construction and maintenance tasks using hand and power tools.
• Operate trucks and equipment for asphalt patching, snow plowing, sanding, and hauling.
• Perform routine servicing and light maintenance of equipment (oil changes, lubrication, etc.).
• May operate small grader or other heavy equipment as needed.
• Maintain buildings and grounds of the Highway Department; ensure safety and attendance.
