Job summary

Columbia is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform outdoor labor including road repairs, sign installations, drainage maintenance, and related tasks. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and lifting heavy objects, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The position emphasizes basic carpentry, masonry, tool operation, and plant/weed control, with opportunities to operate trucks and backhoes as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience required to perform basic tasks.
• Valid driver’s license for vehicle class operated.
• Georgia DOT Flagging Procedures Course to be passed or possessed.
• High School Diploma or GED within first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Repair asphalt roads including edging, water cuts, and potholes.
• Install road signs including replacement and pointing of street markers.
• Install and maintain drainage ditches and remove obstructions from culverts and storm drains.
• Clear vegetation and obstructions from road shoulders and spray around mail boxes to control weeds.
• Repair and maintain driveways and curbs; pour cement for curves and patches.
• Operate trucks delivering materials and perform general maintenance on equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
