The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker in Columbia, SC to perform tree and vegetation work, operate tools, and assist with traffic control in work zones. Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience requirements.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operates power and hand tools for maintenance of tree and vegetation management.
• Assists with the placement of traffic control devices and serves as a flagger in work zones.
• Operates small equipment such as a dump truck or forklift; winter operations with snowplow and sand spreader.
• Lifts up to 50 lbs; may work extended or 12-hour shifts during inclement weather.
