Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to drive highway design projects within our New England Transportation team. The role can be based in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH, guiding technical work and delivering innovative transportation solutions.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate design deliverables, and ensure regulatory compliance across project lifecycles. Strong leadership and collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal designs as required.
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs align with location specs and update requirements as needed.
• Assist sales with proposals and review drafts for compliance with standards.
