Job summary

CTL Engineering in Raleigh, NC is seeking Inspectors and Technicians for construction inspection services on NCDOT, state and local projects. You will perform field and laboratory testing, inspect earthwork, concrete and asphalt, and report findings to project engineers.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of inspection experience on highway projects, knowledge of specifications, and the ability to work independently in an outdoor setting with travel within central NC.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction engineering technician (inspection) services related to earthwork, concrete, asphalt and utility construction for NCDOT, municipalities, and private sector clients.
• Perform engineering and construction field testing primarily roadway/bridge projects.
• Inspect and report on concrete pours, rebar placement, pipe replacements and other aspects of construction works.
• Inspect and sample construction materials.
• Perform computations with formulas, plot data and draw simple curves and graphs.
• Assist Engineers in the field during soil and materials investigations.
• Ensure job site tests/observations, including quality control, QA, and verifications are performed per contract documents.
• Perform field testing and observation of soils, concrete and asphalt.
• Inspect for contractor compliance with state specs, plans, and proposals for roadway work.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations as bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports.
• Notify Contractor or Project Engineer of non-conforming work when needed.
