Job summary

CTL Engineering is hiring Inspectors/Technicians for NCDOT transportation projects in the central North Carolina region. The role involves field and laboratory inspection, testing earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and utility construction, and reporting on performance and QA/QC.

You will work under a Dept. Manager, sometimes lead project teams, travel within central NC, and may receive a vehicle stipend depending on assignment. A strong emphasis on problem solving and quality control is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in construction inspection and testing on NCDOT projects.
• Familiarity with highway construction specifications and field experience.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction inspection/testing.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, NICET II soils, ICC inspections; good to have but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection/ testing services for earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and utility construction for NCDOT and clients.
• Conduct field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and related materials.
• Inspect and report on construction works, pours, rebar, pipe replacements and samples.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports.
• Assist Engineers in the field during soil and materials investigations and relate QA/QC activities.
