Job summary

CTL Engineering is seeking Inspectors and Technicians to support NCDOT transportation projects in the southeast North Carolina region. You will perform earthwork, concrete, asphalt and utility inspections, and assist with field testing and reporting.

This role combines field and laboratory work with some office documentation, requiring travel to project sites and collaboration with engineers and clients to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in construction inspection and testing on NCDOT projects.
• Familiarity with highway construction specifications and field experience.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork and utility construction inspection/testing.
• Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry and structural steel.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET II Soils, ICC/CWI/NDT — optional.
• Must have a valid driver license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and utility inspection for NCDOT and clients.
• Conduct field testing and report findings for roadway/bridge projects.
• Inspect and sample construction materials and report deviations.
• Assist engineers in field investigations and data collection.
• Verify plan quantities and maintain project records and reports.
• Notify Contractor or Project Engineer of non-conforming work when needed.
