Job summary

The Lincoln County Highway Worker maintains and constructs roadways, operates heavy equipment, and performs physical labor on job sites in Merrill, Wisconsin. A strong work ethic and teamwork are essential to ensure safe, efficient travel.

A high school diploma is required, with 1–2 years of related experience preferred. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and CDL with air brakes endorsements are mandatory assets for the role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with knowledge or experience in highway construction and maintenance.
• One to two years related experience, preferred.
• Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes, combination and tanker endorsements required.
• Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, proof of insurance that satisfies Lincoln County requirements and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operates light road maintenance and construction equipment for road surface and shoulder maintenance.
• Performs shoulder to right-of-way maintenance such as debris removal and vegetation management.
• Inspects, installs and maintains culverts and drainage.
• Maintains roadside structures like guardrails, signs, and bridge decks.
• Performs routine maintenance and monitors equipment condition.
