Qualifications

Description:

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Registered Nurse - RN for our Women’s Services Department. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishes a plan of care appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education tailored to age, culture, and circumstances.
  • Acts as an advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing: Preferred

Required Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or another compact state

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required at hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Needed within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) – Needed within 6 months of hire or transfer

Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Must handle stressful environments and take appropriate action.
  • Must pass a Medication Administration Exam with a score of 85% or higher.
