Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking an RN to join the Surgical Services team in the Operating Room. You will evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, and ensure safety through verification processes and evidence-based nursing care.

The role involves collaboration with surgeons, technologists, and unit leaders; on-call during select non-business hours, with emphasis on patient safety and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree is required.
• RN (Registered Nurse) license required.
• 1 year experience in surgical/perioperative setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education around procedures and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications; verify surgical site.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with providers, surgeons, techs, and interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process with clinical judgment and leadership to ensure safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes and care delivered.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and follow-up.
