Job summary

Medical City Fort Worth is seeking a Registered Nurse for Day Surgery on a full-time, day shift with on-call responsibilities. You will assess patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, administer IV therapies and medications, and participate in universal protocol steps to ensure patient safety.

You will work with a dynamic team to deliver high-quality perioperative care, document changes, and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or a compact state.
• BLS certification required.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in nursing.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; perioperative/day surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and perioperative process.
• Prepare patients (IV therapy, preoperative meds, site verification).
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
