Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking an experienced RN for the Operating Room to join a collaborative surgical team. This full-time, day-shift role requires evaluating patients pre-operatively, preparing patients, and supporting the perioperative process with a strong focus on patient safety and workflow efficiency.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate Degree and RN licensure, with 1+ year OR experience and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• RN license and BLS within 30 days of start date.
• Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• 2+ years in a hospital setting; 1+ years in OR

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and peri-operative care.
• Prepare patients (IV therapy, preoperative meds, site verification).
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practice.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up
