Job summary

Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Day Surgery to evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, and prepare patients for procedures. You will participate in surgical verifications, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate with physicians and surgical staff to ensure safe, high-quality care.

ACLS and BCLS within specified timelines are required, with a minimum of one year of perioperative or nursing experience.

Qualifications

RN-Registered Nurse required with current license.
ACLS within 1 year of employment start date.
BCLS within 30 days of employment start date.
Minimum 1 year of experience in perioperative/nursing.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
Work within a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons.
Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes during shift.
Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
