Job summary
Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to evaluate patients pre- and post-surgery, educate families, and support safe perioperative care. You will collaborate with surgeons, providers, and techs to optimize patient outcomes and workflow.
The role requires an RN license and BLS within 30 days; a Bachelor’s or Associate degree is expected, with Day Surgery experience preferred.
Qualifications
- RN licensure required in the state
- Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of start
- Day Surgery experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients prior to surgery
- Provide education to patient and family about the procedure and perioperative process
- Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification
- Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons
- Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care
- Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift
- Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up
