Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical ICU at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, FL. This full-time role features a night shift (6:45 PM–7:15 AM) with every-other-weekend requirements and no on-call duties.

The position emphasizes compassionate, high-quality patient care and collaboration with a large BayCare network. Qualified candidates will hold a valid RN license and a nursing degree at diploma, associate, or bachelor level, with 1 year ICU

Qualifications

• RN License required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• 1 year RN ICU experience in Acute Care setting.
• Excellent patient care and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Care for ICU patients using the nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate care activities to health care team members.
• Monitor and document patient vitals, assessments and progress.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care.
• Maintain high emotional intelligence to ensure a positive patient experience.

• This position may be available for the Critical Care Internship Program; however, availability is subject to change based on current openings and staffing capacity

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in the ICU in the Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU Responsibilities And Skills

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
