Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 28-bed unit of a teaching hospital with Level 1 trauma designation. The facility is a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center with Epic EMR and 24/7 telemetry support.

Required: RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least 1 year in cardiology. You will work in a team with CNA, respiratory, and hospitalists, with a 1:4-5 RN to patient ratio, and a Royal Blue scrub color policy.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification or training required.
• 1 year of cardiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Provide post-procedural care for cardiac patients.
• Titrate drips and manage telemetry monitoring per protocol.

• Minimum experience required: 1 year in Cardiology

Patient Types / Common Diagnoses

Cardiac PCU – Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain rule out, post cardiac catheterization (PCI or without stent), post electrophysiology procedures such as pacemaker insertion, ICD, ablation, Arrhythmia management, Vascular – Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA Repair, DVT/PE

• RN: 1:4-5
• CNA: 1:11-14

Support within the Department

• CNA: Assists RNs by obtaining vital signs and blood glucose checks; supports hourly safety rounds and activities of daily living
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse: May or may not have patient assignment
• Phlebotomy: Peripheral blood draws performed
• No IV/VAT team
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7; assistance by page
• Hospitalist available 24/7
• Intensivist available 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech: Nurses responsible for monitoring and verifying strips once per shift
