Job summary

UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 5 West Observation Unit (5W OBS). The RN will deliver and coordinate care for a 34-bed unit focused on short-stay monitoring and rapid decision-making for admission or discharge.

The role requires a Texas RN license or compact eligibility, BLS certification, and BSN within three years of hire; Med-surg certification is preferred. Night shifts (7 PM–7 AM) are available in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
• Valid Texas RN License or Compact license eligible is required.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.
• BSN degree must be obtained within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, implement or delegate, plan, and evaluate total nursing care for a group of patients.
• Provide and direct patient care in accordance with nursing philosophy and unit standards.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Ensure continuity of care across shifts and departments.
