Job summary

UMC Health System in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Acute Care Observation (5W OBS) unit to provide high‑quality, short‑stay care on nights (7P–7A). The RN will coordinate with physicians, other clinicians and families, assess and plan patient care, delegate tasks, and contribute to efficient patient flow on a fast‑paced, team‑oriented unit.

You will participate in maintaining standards of excellence, comply with BLS and licensure requirements, and support hospital initiatives

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
• Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
• BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire
• Med-surg certification preferred and encouraged

Responsibilities

• Assess, implement or delegate, plan, and evaluate total nursing care and coordinate with physicians, other team members, patients, and families
• Relate effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care
• Contributes to improving processes to enhance patient care and patient flow on the 5W OBS unit
