Job summary

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a current unencumbered state license.
• Knowledge of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
• Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
• Willing to take additional training or education as states may require.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities.
• Written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Be able to perform all functions under your active license as it pertains to your assigned duties.
• Know the residents you serve, providing care based on their care plans and physician orders.
• Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel and other departments to ensure nursing services and activities meet residents’ needs.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, and ensure a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
• Receive/give nursing report at shift change and participate in rounds with physicians as necessary.
• Assist in all aspects of a resident’s daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
• Communicate with clinical leadership when a resident’s needs change.
• Know how to approach and care for residents with dementia.
• Be willing to take on other duties within your knowledge and experience.
