Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a clinical nurse to join the Enterprise Float Pool. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care, ensuring smooth transitions and patient advocacy across the continuum.

The role emphasizes mentoring students and new nurses, evaluating outcomes, and adapting plans with leadership guidance. A BSN is required, with flexibility for variable shifts across Orange and Irvine campuses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
• Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge; revise plan or make referrals as necessary.
• Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit; function as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by leadership.
