Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Night Float Registered Nurse for the Kishwaukee and Valley West hospitals. You will provide inpatient care, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure evidence-based nursing practices are followed.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN or ADN with commitment to a BSN, Illinois RN license, and BLS. ER experience with ACLS and pediatric life support within one year of hire is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of employment.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• ER-specific: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire.
• Pediatric ER: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, TNCC within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients.
• Interact effectively with patients, families, and health team members.
• Collect and analyze data; develop individualized care plans and evaluate outcomes.
• Direct care and determine appropriate use of any assistants.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians and staff; document plans of care.
• Participate in governance, committees and unit projects.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record.
• Utilize research findings to guide nursing practice decisions.
