Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital and Valley West Hospital are seeking a Registered Nurse-Float for part-time day shifts. The role supports inpatient care across units, coordinating nursing activities and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include IL RN license, BSN/ADN with commitment to BSN within 3 years, BLS, and ER-specific credentials (ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC where applicable). Support from a collaborative team and opportunities for growth are offered.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to BSN within three years of employment.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Strong analytic abilities.
• ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year for ER roles.
• Pediatric Emergency ER: PALS and TNCC within one year.

Responsibilities

• A clinically competent, registered nurse who coordinates care for acutely ill patients.
• Interacts with patients, families and health team while following ANA standards.
• Collects data, plans care, implements and evaluates outcomes.
• Directs care and utilizes nursing assistants as appropriate.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff; documents the plan.
• Participates in governance, committees and unit projects.
• Evaluates patient responses and updates the care plan accordingly.
• Uses current evidence to guide nursing practice.
