Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital are seeking a Registered Nurse Weekend Float for full-time night shifts. The role supports patient care across units, performing nursing assessments, planning, and coordination in collaboration with the health team.

The candidate should hold a BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years, be a licensed Illinois RN, and have BLS; ACLS/PALS/TNCC credentials may be required for certain units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of first day of employment.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Additional requirements for specific clinical areas (ER, Pediatric ER, Non-Invasive Cardiology) as listed in the ad

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops an individualized plan, coordinates care and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
• Directs care and determines appropriate utilization of any assistants involved in direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff to create a documented plan focused on outcomes.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents patient responses to interventions and updates the care plan accordingly.
• Uses current evidence to guide practice decisions.
