Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Float Pool Nights at Kishwaukee and Valley West Hospitals. You will provide patient-centered nursing care for acutely ill patients, coordinate with health team members, and develop individualized care plans through the nursing process.

Responsibilities include data collection, plan development, implementation and evaluation, with emphasis on evidence-based practice and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years of employment.
• Current State of Illinois RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
• ER-specific: ACLS; PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire.
• Pediatric ER: Pediatric Advanced Life Support; TNCC within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to acutely ill patients through the nursing process.
• Interacts with patients and families, and other health team members following ANA standards.
• Collects and analyzes data, develops a plan, implements care and evaluates outcomes.
• Directs care and coordinates any assistants involved in patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff to document a care plan focused on outcomes.
• Participates in governance, committees and unit projects.
• Evaluates patient responses and updates the plan of care accordingly.
• Uses current evidence to guide nursing practice.
