Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to support surgeons in a variety of general and specialized procedures. The RNFA will assess patients perioperatively and participate in intraoperative care, independently handling nursing tasks while collaborating with the surgical team.

The ideal candidate has an RN license with CNOR and BLS, plus at least 2 years in perioperative nursing, and/or completion of an accredited RNFA program.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with active license in good standing.
• CNOR certification or willingness to obtain CNOR.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in perioperative nursing and RNFA practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries, ensuring trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready.
• Provide patient care and support throughout perioperative period.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Perform surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, draping, and tissue handling.
• Position and prep patient on operating table and monitor vital signs.
• Educate patient and family on operation and postoperative care.
