Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist to support surgeons in a range of operative procedures. The RNFA will perform perioperative nursing activities including assessment, planning, and postoperative evaluation, working in collaboration with the surgical team.

Required credentials include an active RN license, BLS within 30 days, and CNOR or RNFA program completion, with 2+ years perioperative nursing experience. This on-site role involves patient care, medications, and intraoperative duties.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with active license and BLS within 30 days
• CNOR certification or equivalent perioperative certification
• Minimum 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with the OR team
• Provide patient care and support before, during, and after procedures
• Administer medications as needed during perioperative care
• Perform intraoperative procedures such as draping, exposure, and tissue handling
• Position and prepare patients on the operating table and monitor vitals
• Educate patient and family on procedures and postoperative care
• Conduct postoperative assessments and monitor for pain or complications
• Assist with room turnover and equipment coordination
• Scrub and circulate based on unit needs
• Participate in department cost-control and supply management
