Job summary

Carle Health in Illinois is seeking an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons during perioperative care. The RNFA provides independent nursing assessment and post‑operative evaluation, collaborating with the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

You will scrub and circulate as needed, assist in hemostasis and suturing, position and prepare patients, monitor vitals, educate patients and families, and participate in post‑operative care and research initiatives.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN (IL IDFPR)
• BLS certification (AHA) within 30 days
• CNOR certification

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries; ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready for each procedure
• Provide patient care and support
• Administer medications
• Scrub and circulate as needed; assist with hemostasis and suturing
• Position and prepare the patient on the operating table; monitor vitals and heart rate
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare; communicate health status to family
• Post‑operative assessments and monitoring for pain/complications; study patient history
