Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons in general and specialized operations within our Illinois facilities. The role emphasizes independent perioperative nursing, patient assessment, and post-operative care, coordinating with the OR team to ensure readiness of trays, instrumentation and supplies.

Qualifications

• Assists surgeon in general and specialized surgeries.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready for each procedure.
• Educates patient and family on operation and aftercare; communicates health of patient to family.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries.
• Provide patient care and support.
• Perform surgical procedures such as controlling bleeding, suturing, draping, and tissue handling.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare; communicate patient health to family.
• Monitor patient after surgery for pain and/or complications.
• Study patient history and health assessments.
• Monitor surgery site for healing or infection.
• Possess ability to scrub and circulate as needed.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment to maintain efficiency and control costs.
