Job summary

Sumter Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced RN Staff Development Coordinator in York, AL to lead orientation, clinical education, and ongoing staff development ensuring high-quality resident care.

The role emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and developing nursing staff, overseeing competency assessments, regulatory training, and survey readiness within a supportive leadership team.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama RN license in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Previous nursing experience required
• Staff development, nursing education, clinical training, or nursing leadership experience preferred
• Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or post-acute care experience preferred
• Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of nursing standards and regulatory requirements
• Excellent teaching, communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate orientation and onboarding for newly hired nursing staff
• Provide clinical education and training for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other direct-care staff
• Conduct skills validations and competency assessments
• Coordinate required in-services, annual education, and regulatory training
• Maintain accurate training, certification, and competency records
• Coach and mentor nursing staff to strengthen clinical performance
• Support survey readiness, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
