Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network seeks a Professional Development Specialist (PDS), a self-directed RN with advanced knowledge in their clinical area, to educate, lead change, research, mentor, and serve as a role model. The PDS will be based in the department and may take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; current RN licensure in the state of employment.
• BSN required; MSN with education focus or MEd preferred.
• Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience; two years in education preferred.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills; ongoing CE participation.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: engage new employees, identify learning style, overview orientation process.
• Diagnosis: collaborate with clinical managers on orientee needs.
• Identify Educational Outcomes: prepare competency-based orientation.
• Planning: schedule clinical orientation and select preceptors.
• Implementation: coordinate classroom and unit-based education, infection control, and patient service training.
• Evaluation: monitor progress and adjust education plans; document outcomes.
• Leadership/Professional Development: mentor peers and support growth; facilitate professional development.
