Job summary

Boyd Jones Construction in Urbandale, IA is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to turn project plans into safe, coordinated field work. You will work with experienced superintendents and trade partners while progressively taking ownership of areas, scopes, and daily field operations.

The role emphasizes leading safety, coordinating schedule execution, and ensuring quality with field teams. Growth toward Superintendent responsibilities is expected.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of commercial construction, skilled-trade, field coordination, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience reading drawings, specs, schedules, and technical information.
• Familiarity with digital plans, tablets, construction apps, and Procore is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety in the field with daily planning, safety checks, and follow-through.
• Help develop short-term look-ahead plans and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, access, and inspections.
• Maintain field operations, conduct walks, support huddles and coordination meetings, and communicate issues early.
• Verify installations against drawings, specs, submittals, and Boyd Jones standards; support QA/QC and turnover.
• Review RFIs, submittals, drawings revisions, and project information for field impact; work with Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Take increasing ownership of areas/scopes and contribute ideas to improve planning, workflow, and leadership.
