Job summary

Patterson-UTI Drilling is seeking an entry-level roughneck to support rig operations on a heavy industrial drilling site in Texas. You will assist with handling drill pipe, rig moves, and routine maintenance while following strict safety protocols.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and adapting to a 14/14 shift rotation. A High School diploma or GED and basic English communication skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate clear communication skills including ability to read, write and speak English.
• Minimum six months of stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Lift and place slips weighing approximately 150 pounds with another person frequently during the tour work shift.
• General upkeep of the rig and drilling floor, including sweeping, shoveling, cleaning, painting, washing equipment, and related housekeeping duties.
• Use iron roughneck, slips, and tongs to handle and connect/break sections of drill pipe.
• Assist in rig moves and prepare new locations; assist with rig-up/rig-down and blowout preventers.
• Regularly check rig and equipment for problems and safety issues; inspect and slip drilling line.
• Maintain PPE and safety equipment; follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Travel to and work in remote locations on rotation (14 days on / 14 days off) with 12.5 hour shifts.
