Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. seeks a Staff Mission Lead Systems Engineer for RF Systems to drive end-to-end mission success from concept through on-orbit operations.

You will work with Mission Architecture, lead cross-functional teams, and own critical RF system trades, requirements, and integration across lifecycle stages. Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in complex space systems, proven technical leadership, and deep RF expertise, plus experience with government contracts and system modeling.

Qualifications

• Direct RF systems engineering experience and RF payload/instrument design.
• B.S. or higher degree in an engineering field with 8+ years in complex systems.
• Experience as technical lead on a multi-disciplinary, government or commercial project.
• Experience with USG/IC contracts, acquisition standards, and proposal support.
• Strong system modeling, analysis, and simulations experience.
• Proven system integration and delivery of complex space systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork across technical and management stakeholders.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Mission Architecture during studies to shape mission concepts and baselines.
• Develop and maintain mission-level system models and requirements baselines.
• Serve as the technical authority for designated missions and drive key decisions.
• Tailor and implement Muon mission design processes for programs and missions.
• Translate customer objectives into verifiable technical requirements.
• Interface with customers, partners, and internal teams on technical matters.
• Manage requirements traceability, verification, and validation.
• Define CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets (power, data, mass, pointing).
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate program risks across all disciplines.
• Lead design reviews and monitor on-orbit performance and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, data, and operations teams.
• Act as MLSE for one mission and support other Muon missions as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
