Job summary

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Retail System Engineer in our Store Support Center, located in Downtown Greensboro, NC. The Enterprise Retail System Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing integrated solutions across all retail store systems, ensuring seamless operation and a consistent experience for customers and employees.

This role will report to the Manager of Solutions Delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience supporting or implementing enterprise or retail systems in a production environment.
Strong working knowledge of retail systems, including POS, inventory management, CRM, ERP, and payment processing.
Hands-on experience with system integrations, APIs, messaging, and data exchange technologies.
Familiarity with cloud-based and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure) as they relate to retail systems.
Experience supporting omnichannel capabilities such as BOPIS, loyalty programs, digital wallets, and customer data integration.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues across multiple integrated platforms.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Experience working in Agile or similar delivery models.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to operational issues.

Responsibilities

Design and implement integrated retail store systems across the lifecycle.
Develop and optimize architecture to support current and future retail needs.
Build and maintain store system integrations (POS, inventory, CRM, ERP, etc.).
Support interoperability among in-store technologies (self-checkouts, mobile payments, kiosks).
Collaborate with architects to translate designs into scalable implementations.
Evaluate retail tech platforms and tools for performance and reliability.
Implement data flows from store systems to corporate analytics.
Support scalability for new store openings and rollouts.
Collaborate with store ops, vendors, and IT to align systems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot root causes.
Provide technical support during incidents, upgrades, and changes.
