Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) is seeking a Store Specialist to deliver an engaging customer experience, handle complex POS transactions, and ensure smooth operation and merchandising of assigned areas. You will oversee activities of assigned associates and ensure adherence to policies.

The role requires prior retail experience, the ability to work evenings and weekends, and being at least 18 years old. OSJL offers a competitive compensation package with extensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Prior retail merchandising, customer service and/or cashier experience in other retail environments is preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Build lasting relationships by providing exceptional customer service and fostering a welcoming environment.
• Assist customers with inquiries, locate items, complete purchases, handle transactions, and perform advanced point-of-sale functions.
• Promote Company initiatives (donations, loyalty programs, promotions).
• Maintain visually appealing displays, restock areas, and merchandise new items per Company guidelines.
• Train and coordinate associates, manage breaks per policy and regulations.
• Communicate issues and improvement opportunities to store leadership.
• Maintain a safe and organized environment for customers and associates.
