Job summary

Family Dollar in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening and closing procedures, merchandise flow from delivery to floor, and help supervise store associates to maintain store standards.

The role emphasizes maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, handling payroll and scheduling, and ensuring loss prevention and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics, etc.) is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store activities and operations.
• Provide excellent customer service and address questions or concerns.
• Organize merchandise flow from delivery to stockroom to floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Support payroll, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized store.
• Help supervise and develop Store Associates; ensure policy compliance.
