Job summary

Family Dollar in Dover, TN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening/closing duties and ensure a well-organized, inviting sales floor.

You will supervise Store Associates, assist with merchandising, scheduling, and loss prevention, while upholding company policies and delivering friendly, professional service to customers and leaders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties as described.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Support customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor as needed; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanliness, restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, trash removal, and neat presentation.
