Job summary

The Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General focuses on a clean, organized store and a customer-first experience. Working under the Store Manager, you help supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, and handle deposits and store paperwork.

You will also stock, cashier, and support loss prevention measures while promoting profitability and customer satisfaction across daily operations. The role requires strong cash handling, teamwork, and reliable attendance in a retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong cash handling, loss prevention and cash deposit knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through damage control, markdowns and paperwork.
• Implement and maintain planograms; ensure proper merchandising.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, refunds, and deposits.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
