Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run day-to-day store operations with a customer-first focus. You will supervise staff, help with merchandising, paperwork, and deposits, and lead cashiering tasks to maximize profitability and minimize losses.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, planograms, and ensuring policy compliance in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in planogram implementation and maintaining presentation per Store Manager directions.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability, deposits, and refunds approvals; count tills and bank deposits.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
