Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a capable leader to plan, direct, and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations. You will mentor staff, drive customer service, and help achieve sales goals while maintaining store standards.

You will oversee staffing, training, and performance, ensuring a positive team environment and adherence to company policies. This role emphasizes leadership, efficiency, and a focus on customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions and teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across hourly positions and leadership roles.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
• Staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by defining career paths and development needs; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions; make discharge recommendations.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain shrink within department.
