Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Merchandising Assistant Store Manager in Training (MASM-IT) to gain hands-on experience across Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing and Electrical departments. During the up-to-6-week program, MASMs in Training work with Store Manager and ASMs to develop leadership skills, oversee operations, customer service, inventory, and store presentation.

This role emphasizes training in staffing, scheduling, stock management, and performance feedback,

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1 year of work experience minimum; 3 years preferred.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise associates to drive customer service and engagement; resolve customer concerns promptly.
• Perform opening/closing MOD and store-wide operations; enforce SOPs and prevent shrink.
• Enforce safety and hazmat procedures for all staff.
• Plan merchandising, signing and stock integrity; manage equipment and daily financial ops.
• Participate in a structured MASM-IT training covering store management, operations, service, and policies.
