Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in a New Jersey location to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, presenting merchandise, and ensuring strong customer service. The role includes training, scheduling, cash handling, and protecting company assets while maximizing profitability.

The ideal candidate will have retail experience, some supervisory exposure, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership and operate the cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling employees and training.
• Manage merchandise intake, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and perform cash controls.
